Phlebolymphoedema

The phlebolymphoedema is originally based on a chronic weakness of the veins (esp. leg veins). The growing pressure in the blood capillaries leads to an increase of tissue fluid, meaning the lymphatic pressure in the tissue also increases.

In the beginning, a healthy lymphatic system can counteract these rising fluid levels. However, a continuous overload will eventually weaken the lymphatic system, leading to a lymphoedema, which, in this case, is referred to as a phlebolymphoedema.
